Frequently Asked Questions
What is Legacy Lines?
Legacy Lines is a writing service focused on preserving life stories, memories, and personal reflections through guided interviews and thoughtfully written narratives. Rather than asking you to write everything yourself, I walk alongside you in the process, helping bring your experiences into words that feel natural, meaningful, and lasting.
How is this different from other services?
Similar platforms provide prompts and tools for individuals to write their own stories over time.
Legacy Lines is a guided, personal process. You are not left to figure out what to write or how to structure it. Through conversation, I help draw out memories, connections, and reflections. Then I shape them into a cohesive, carefully written piece.
The difference is not just in the final product, but in the experience:
- You are supported throughout
- Your story is actively developed, not just collected
- The writing is crafted, not templated
Do I need to be a good writer?
Not at all. Most clients come to this work because they don’t know where to begin or don’t feel confident writing their story on their own.
Your role is simply to share your memories and reflections. I guide the conversation and handle the writing.
What does the process look like?
The process begins with a conversation to understand what you’re hoping to create. From there, we move into guided interview sessions where you share your story at a comfortable pace. These sessions are recorded, and I use them to write and shape your narrative or letter. You will have the opportunity to review and provide feedback before anything is finalized.
How long does it take?
Timelines vary depending on the service:
- Legacy Letters: typically 1–3 weeks
- Guided Interview Sessions: scheduled over a few weeks
- Life Books: often 2–4 months
- End-of-Life Projects: adjusted to meet more immediate timelines
I work at a pace that feels supportive while still moving the process forward.
Why is this more expensive than online programs?
Online programs are designed to be self-guided and automated.
Legacy Lines is a one-on-one, personalized service that includes:
- live, guided conversations
- active listening and thoughtful questioning
- professional writing and editing
- a fully developed, cohesive result
You are not just purchasing a tool, you are receiving time, presence, and a carefully crafted outcome.
What if I don’t know what I want to say yet?
That’s completely okay, and very common. Part of this process is helping you discover what feels most important. The questions and conversations are designed to gently guide you, without pressure or expectation.
Can this include sensitive or difficult topics?
Yes. This work often includes complex or emotional experiences. You are always in control of what you choose to share, and we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
For letters intended to be shared after passing, we can also discuss thoughtful ways to handle timing and delivery.
Can I do this for a parent or loved one?
Yes. Many clients come on behalf of a parent or family member. I can work directly with them, or include you in the process, whatever feels most supportive.
Will the writing sound like me?
That is always the goal. I write in a way that reflects your voice, tone, and personality as closely as possible. You’ll also have the opportunity to review and request adjustments to ensure it feels true to you.
Are these stories and letters kept private?
Yes. Everything shared during our work together is treated with care and confidentiality. Nothing is shared without your explicit permission.
How do I get started?
The first step is a simple conversation. This allows us to talk through what you are hoping to create, ask any questions, and determine what feels like the right fit. Just send me an email at the link below to reach out.
If you are unsure where to begin, that’s okay. This work is meant to meet you where you are.
